Ursuline scored two second half goals to defeat Lake Forest 2-0 in the first-ever game at the new D-E Turf Complex in Frederica.

An overcast, windy afternoon greeted the two Division II squads, but the players stayed warm by playing a game full of end-to-end action.

Despite 12 shots in the first half, the teams went into the break scoreless thanks to 8 saves from goaltenders Lindsay Brown (Ursuline) and Brooke Tucker (Lake Forest).

Tucker would be called upon to make two more sliding saves early in the second half, before Ursuline’s Alli Kochie connected on a long pass to Alli Olmstead, who outraced a defender who stumbled, and went far post around the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Lake Forest would get two excellent chances to equalize in the final 15 minutes, but Brown, playing just her third game in net for the Raiders, was able to smother the chances.

Ursuline’s Megan Ogden capped the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the final minute.

Ursuline outshot Lake 20-13, including 12-8 in attempts on target. They had all five corner kicks in the game.

Ursuline (4-1) returns to action Tuesday against Saint Elizabeth at Alapocas Run State Park in a 3:45 contest.

Lake Forest (3-1) faces a tough Division I test at Sussex Tech Tuesday at 4:30pm.
